The Ohana Tea Brewing Guide
Your moment of calm, captured in a cup.
At Ohana Tea, every cup is an experience. It’s the peaceful breath before the day begins, the warmth after an ocean swim, and the comfort of sharing time with someone you love. To help you draw out the best in every blend, here’s a simple guide to brewing with ease and intention.
Every cup has its purpose.
-
Morning glow: Reach for energising blends like Ginger Ninja or Glow Up to awaken your senses and support gentle detox.
-
Midday calm: Sip Mermaid Waters or Beauty Queen for hydration and balance.
-
Evening unwind: Slow down with Silk Pillow or Peace Out, designed to quiet the mind and relax the body.
Let your day guide your choice — each blend is a new kind of pause.
Loose leaf tea gives you the freedom to craft your perfect brew.
For one cup (250 mL): use 1 heaped teaspoon (about 1–1.5 grams)
For a teapot for two (500–600 mL): use 2 tablespoons
For a large teapot (800 mL – 1 L): use 3–4 tablespoons
Light, leafy teas (like rose, chamomile, mint) need a bit more; dense root blends (like dandelion or burdock) need a little less.
The secret to a perfect cup lies in the water and the wait.
-
Water Temperature:
Herbal blends love hot, not boiling water — around 90–95°C (just off the boil) -
Steeping Time:
Let your tea steep 5–7 minutes, or longer for a richer, deeper flavour. -
Mindful Tip:
While you wait, take three slow breaths. Feel the warmth, notice the aroma, and let the world slow down for a moment.
Each blend can be enjoyed hot or iced, depending on the season (or your mood)!
-
Hot: Perfect for slow mornings, late nights, or reflective pauses.
-
Iced: Brew double strength, pour over ice, and add a slice of citrus or a few berries for a coastal twist.
Some blends — like Mermaid Waters or Ginger Ninja — taste incredible cold. Others, like Silk Pillow, shine best when warm and soothing.
Make your cup uniquely yours.
-
Add a touch of raw honey, lemon, or fresh mint for an extra layer of flavour.
-
For creamy texture, try a splash of oat milk or coconut milk — perfect with Glow Up or Malta Rose.
-
Or, keep it pure and simple. The natural sweetness of our botanicals does the rest.
Keep your tea fresh and full of life by storing it in an airtight container, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Treat it like you would your favourite beach find — something beautiful, worth preserving.
